Original, hand-drawn cartoon by Mort Gerberg published in the New Yorker on May 22, 1989 with the caption, "'Greetings in peace and love.  This letter will bring you good luck.  It has been around the world four times.  Do not break the chain or you will have bad luck.  Make 15 copies of ..."  Possibly the origin of the chain letter?

Mort Gerberg is a prolific cartoonist who has published in the New Yorker over five decades.  

Ink, ink wash, and white out on 11" x 14" heavy card stock.  The image contains production markings to designate crop lines.  The page is taped to a protective cover with the magazine tear sheet.  New Yorker production sticker on reverse side.  Caption does not appear on the image.  Excellent condition.
