Le Zinc

On November 4, 2000, the opening of Le Zinc, the more pedestrian cousin of the legendary A-list French-American restaurant Chantarelle, was featured in The New Yorker Magazine. Illustrator Marcellus Hall captured owners Karen and David Waltuck as they readied the restaurant for the public in this piece which ran with The New Yorker article.

Ink and watercolor paint on 8.5” x 9.25” Arches 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper. The artist’s initials appear in the lower right corner of the image. The reverse side contains Marcellus’s signature stamp and return address, and dates of creation and publication of the piece. A protective tissue cover sheet is taped to the reverse side which folds over the front of the image. Excellent condition.
