Original color illustration by Marcellus Hall featuring the award-winning actor Forest Whitaker in the title role of Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai. Published in The New Yorker on March 6, 2000 to highlight the opening of the film. The artist’s initials appear in the lower right corner of the image.
Created with ink, watercolor, and colored pencil on 7.25” x 10.5” Strathmore 400 series drawing paper. The reverse side contains production notes, Marcellus’s signature stamp and return address, and the dates of creation and publication. The paper contains minor rippling from the watercolor paint application. A protective tissue cover sheet is taped to the reverse side which folds over the front of the image. Excellent condition.
