This original color illustration by Marcellus Hall appeared in New York Magazine’s May 20, 2002 issue to highlight the famous weekend antiques flea market known as “The Garage,” which had operated from a two-story indoor parking garage in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood since 1994—alas, it closed in 2014!

Ink and watercolor on 11.5” x 5” Arches 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper. The foot of the piece contains a handwritten reference to “The New Yorker” and the date the piece was created, “5/6/02.” The reverse side contains Marcellus’s stamped signature and the date of publication. Excellent condition.
