Original color illustration by Marcellus Hall of folks relaxing at the Beer Garden at Bohemian Hall & Park in Astoria, New York. This painting appeared in The New Yorker’s May 31, 1999 issue to highlight the seventeenth annual Czech and Slovak Festival in the park that year.

Watercolor on 13.25” x 11.25” Strathmore 400 series drawing paper. The reverse side references the date of creation, the date of publication, and contains Marcellus’s signature stamp and return address. A protective tissue cover sheet is taped to the reverse side which folds over the front of the image. The paper contains minor creases and rippling from the watercolor paint application. Overall, excellent condition.
