Cow Stuck on Moon

A beautiful, hand-painted cartoon by Eldon Dedini.  This painting is the only New Yorker cover ever created by Dedini.  Although it was purchased by the New Yorker, it was never published, as it was intended to run in September 2001, shortly after the attacks on the World Trade Center, and the publishers decided to change the tenor of the magazine's covers in that time period.  Acrylic on 15" x 17.5" D'Arches paper.  (The work measures approximately 9.75" x 13.25").  Small glue smudges to the left of the blue border strip and minor pencil marks on the corners of the work.  Artist's hand-written name and address on the reverse side.  Overall, very good condition. 

Dedini's work of this caliber is extremely rare as most of work was donated to the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum in Ohio shortly before his passing in 2006.  This piece comes from the private collection of Eldon Dedini's son. 

The colors in this piece are brilliant -- an incredible opportunity for the Dedini or New Yorker collector.
