Original hand-drawn cartoon by Eldon Dedini, published in the New Yorker on March 22, 1999. Acrylic on 12.5" x 17" (likely d'Arches) paper (drawing measures approximately 9.25" x 13"). Piece is glued to 17" x 21" off-white matting with typed caption, "Marie, are you still driving?" Reverse side contains New Yorker production sticker and artist's handwritten note with year of creation (1999) as well as his name and mailing address at the time. Overall, very good condition.
Dedini's work is extremely rare as most of it was donated to the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum in Ohio shortly before his passing in 2006. This piece comes from the private collection of Eldon Dedini's son.
